A few years ago I used the Ampro 40 antenna for the 40 m band, which I mounted on the balcony - 1.5 m from the railing.
The antenna works very well to my surprise on 40 m band :).



Now I'm using back wire antennas:

Nowadays on my balcony is about 10 m wire made of rg58 feeder hanging on 5'th floor between the two rods and matched by the unun 4:1 (visible on the right) + MFJ-901B inside (in my room, very close to the radio).

In the picture you can see 2 ends of the rg58 feeder - on top - a compact shield with a hot wire, on the bottom a hot wire extended with stainless steel wire and this wire will be attached to the clamp for Unun 4:1

The wire antenna works quite well on 40/20/17/15/12/10 m and not so good on 80 m band.

For the 10, 20 and 40 m band, I use a half-wave vertical antenna for the 10 m band, attached to a 6 m (4x1.5 m) mast.



The feeder is attached in two sections to the balcony through this element. This is probably how the extra capacity is created in this part of the RG58 feeder. Maybe that's why the antenna works very well in the 40 m band in domestic and other communications. It's just my guess.



UHF
TRX: Yaesu FT-991 +mobile vertical antenna DIAMOND NR-22LH for 2 m band. The antenna works excellent on this band.
